This child lives in a small village without electricity near a major tourist attraction in Cambodia. His parents usually send him to sell snacks and souvenirs to tourists instead of attending school. I found him playing with his friends in a nearby pond. He was using the machete to cut and eat sugar cane.
There are so many people in the world that live in a state of poverty or close to it, and so many others that live in such wealth that are oblivious to the other half. I think this situation needs to be corrected, and the first step is education. Photography can play a big part in that education, and that is why my wife and I have started Collective Lens.
